GUJARAT TITANS 2023
Gujarat Titans (GT) 2023
The Gujarat Titans had a total purse of INR 19.25 crore with 10 slots available that included seven Indian and three overseas players.
The defending champions Gujarat Titans had a strategy of adding more depth to their otherwise strong squad as they geared up for a successful title heading into the IPL 2023 mini-auction that took place in Kochi on Friday, December 23. They had traded seasoned New Zealand pacer Lockie Ferguson and Afghanistan stumper Rahmanullah Gurbaz to the Kolkata Knight Riders in the months leading up to this event.
GT who had finished as the table-toppers of IPL 2022 before getting the better of the Rajasthan Royals in Qualifier 1 and the final to bag their maiden IPL crown had come into this year’s mini-auction with a purse of INR 19.25 crore with 10 slots available that included seven Indian and three overseas players.
Ahead of the IPL 2023 auction, the Hardik Pandya-led side had parted ways with the likes of Dominic Drakes, Gurkeerat Singh, Jason Roy and Varun Aaron apart from Lockie Ferguson and Rahmanullah Gurbaz.
GT started on a strong note when they hired New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson for INR 2 crores. Williamson, who had captained the SRH last season, was released by the franchise heading into this event. They then roped in West Indies all-rounder Odean Smith for INR 50 lakh. Smith was released by the Punjab Kings.
